Navigating DECA+

Every year, Indiana DECA provides DECA+ to all registered chapters with at least 10 members who have paid their dues. DECA+ is a great tool that can be utilized for practice roleplays, practice tests, and sample papers. If your chapter meets the requirements, ask your advisor for the username and password.

What you can find

Once you have logged into your chapter’s account, you can scroll to the bottom of the page to find the different sections. You can also use the icons on the left hand side that correspond with each section. 

Competitive Events

If you click into Competitive Events, you can scroll through all the events offered. When you click on one of the events, there will be a short description of the event. You can scroll through the requirements and outline of the event, and you can also find sample exams (if the event requires you to take one) and sample roleplays/papers.

If you are unsure which event to compete in, you can take a short quiz on DECA+.

Competition Success

Under Competition Success, DECA+ provides a course of action and template that can be followed to help competitors feel prepared. 

Online Practice Exams

All roleplays and select prepared events require competitors to take a cluster exam. You can find which cluster exam your event takes based on the color, or what is listed in the event description. 

Vocabulary and Performance Indicator Flipcards

It is important that when doing roleplays or giving presentations, you are familiar with your cluster’s vocabulary. Making sure that you use the correct vocabulary can improve your professionalism and show the judges that you understand what you are talking about. For roleplays, knowing your performance indicators can be the difference between winning and falling short. Show the judges that you are here to win by studying the performance indicators. 

Video Library

DECA+ provides real videos of competitors presenting their roleplays at ICDC. These show how there is  no right or wrong way to present, but they provide guidance of what has succeeded in the past. If you have never done a roleplay before, these videos can help you know what to expect.
