As we get closer to SCDC, it’s important that you come prepared and know what to expect. Attending the State Conference is something that you have worked hard for and earned, so we want you to make the most of it.

Schools from all around the state will be staying together at the Marriott hotel downtown, so it is the perfect chance to network and meet new people. The common areas include the first floor lobby as well as the second floor area. It is important that you are always in at least business casual when in these areas.

On the second floor, you will also have the opportunity to visit different booths from businesses and colleges. At these booths, you can talk with representatives from the school or business and ask them any questions you may have.

Throughout the conference, you and a small team can also participate in our Goosechase competition. This allows you to explore the conference, get to know your state officers, and have fun with your fellow DECA members. The winner of the competition will be announced and recognized during the award ceremonies.

While you’re having fun, it’s important that you don’t forget the basics. If you are not on your residential floor, please be in business attire. This includes even when you are walking around the downtown area. When you are presenting, you must be in business professional.

Make sure that you arrive at your presentation room at least ten to fifteen minutes before your scheduled time. This accounts for if someone before you does not show up or if your event is simply running ahead of schedule. Being late to your event will result in an automatic disqualification. If your presentation room is a city, it will be located on the second floor; if your presentation room is a state, it will be located on the first floor.

Most importantly, enjoy your time at the conference! We want this to be a memorable experience, and may the odds ever be in your favor!
